Interview with the Vampire (18)
One of the all time classic vampire movies, this film features a great cast including Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, Antonio Banderas and Kirsten Dunst. The film is about a 200 year old vampire called Louis (Brad Pitt) that has decided in the present day to tell his story of what life has been like living as a vampire for the last 200 years. He tells of how he struggled to become a natural killer after being turned by the dark Lestat (Tom Cruise), refusing to drink the blood of a human instead resorting to killing chickens and rats. The film follows the traditional vampire values of never ageing, canÆt go out in sunlight etc. Follow how Louis and Lestat survive their eternal lifestyle with some great bloodthirsty scenes of vampire slaying, killing people and the portrayal of turning a sweet innocent child to become a human killing vampire, this film is definitely not one to miss.
The Lost Boys (15)
After two boys and their mother move to a new town in California they realise that something is not quite right. One of the brothers Sam befriends two other boys the Frog brothers who claim that the town is riddled with vampires and they are vampire slayers. The older brother Michael unsuspectingly becomes entangled with a gang of vampires who trick him into drinking their blood giving him vampire like side effects. Convinced that his older brother is becoming a vampire Sam enlists the help of his new vampire slaying friends to save his brother. Watch as the extent of the vampire population is unravelled and how a group of boys try to permanently rid their town of them. Twilight (12)
Being one of the biggest vampire films in the last decade or so Twilight has given the traditional vampire values a modern twist. This new breed of vampires doesnÆt ever need to sleep and glisten like diamonds in the sun rather than turning to dust but they still have the vampire essential of needing blood to survive. The film portrays the developing relationship between the new girl in town Bella Swan and vampire Edward Cullen. As Bella embraces the vampire ways of her boyfriend she herself desires to be æturnedÆ but Edward has serious hesitations about doing this. The Cullens embrace a semi normal life in the community by concealing what they truly are and controlling their urge to drink human blood by surviving on the blood of wild animals instead. Twilight is a milder less violent vampire film that is suitable for younger teenagers and is a great film for all the family to watch this Halloween.
From Dusk till Dawn (18)
For the ultimate in blood spilling aggressive action From Dusk till Dawn has the utmost gore and violence factor. When two brothers Seth and Richie rob a liquor store, blow it up and kill the shop keeper and a sheriff they go on the run. They take a surviving hostage to a motel while they plan their escape to Mexico. One of the brothers ends up killing the hostage. With their faces all over the news the brothers need to acquire some new hostages and kidnap a pastor with his two children and hijack their R.V forcing them to drive to Mexico. When in Mexico they end up at a bar, hostages and all, where things are not as they originally seem. A fight erupts and one of the brothers gets stabbed, seeing the blood provokes the bartender to attack revealing his vampire form. When each of the bar workers turn into vampires and begin to feed on the unsuspecting bar patrons, watch as the humans begin to fight back. Will the vampires be defeated, who will survive and who will become one of the undead?
30 Days of Night (15)
A secluded town in Alaska is about to enter its annual winters 30 days of night where the sun cannot be seen and everything is constantly in darkness for a month. During this time vampires descend on the town intent on killing everyone there. Being the perfect dark setting for a vampire they believe they have found their version of heaven. The vampires start picking off the towns people one by one and the remaining survivors are forced to go into hiding away from the vampires. Watch as the people try to remain alive, avoid the vampires and attempt to defeat them. Fast paced and jumpy this film is a gutsy vampire film that will have you clinging to the edge of your seat so watch the race against time to survive until sunrise.
