The Last Exorcism (2010) (15)

The Last Exorcism

The Last Exorcism

Filmed in the ‘found footage’ documentary style The Last Exorcism is packed full of creepy demonic scenes and material that will get you hiding behind the nearest cushion. The plot features a reverend who familiar with performing exorcisms agrees to participate in a documentary that exposes the fraudulent nature of these apparent exorcisms. With a film crew in tow the reverend Marcus chooses an exorcism request sent by a farmer who claims his daughter is possessed by a powerful demon. Upon meeting the girl reverend Marcus’ initial thoughts are that she suffers from psychological problems rather than the demonic possession the family believes. Reverend Marcus performs one of his ‘mock’ ceremonies to prove to the film crew that exorcisms are about making the family believe the demon has gone. The reverend and the film crew leave believing that all is now well, only for things to turn more sinister as they discover the family really does have a serious demonic possession on their hands.

Paranormal Activity 2 (2010) (15)

Paranormal Activity 2

Paranormal Activity 2

The much anticipated follow up to the successful first instalment of Paranormal Activity, Paranormal Activity 2 is just as scary and will have you not wanting to be home alone again. It starts of with a montage of home movies showing a mother bringing her new born son home from the hospital to the family home and the first few months of the baby’s life. A year after the birth the family come home to find their house completely trashed by what initially looks like a break in, this leads to them installing a number of security cameras. Objects and doors start to move on their own accord and are captured in the footage with strange things happening in and around the baby’s room too, the family dog is filmed growling and barking at what seems to be nothing. With the activity getting worse and the suggestion of a demonic presence one of the family members becomes possessed by the demon and the consequences may prove fatal. Just as good as the first film paranormal activity 2 is well worth a watch this Halloween.

Scream 4

Scream 4

The last instalment of the scream films was released over ten years ago, and this year our cinema screens are graced once again, with the sheer brilliance that transformed the teen slasher movie genre to how we know it today. Scream 4 sees Sidney return as a successful author whose last stop on her book tour is her home town of Woodsboro, the original set for the beginning of the scream film saga. Here we see a host of familiar faces such as Deputy Dewey and annoying reporter Gail Weathers as well as a star studded cast of fresh new victims. The return of Sidney prompts the return of the infamous ghost face killer who Sidney has managed to escape so many times before. With the usual brilliantly devised twists and turns will the main characters survive or will ghost face finally succeed in fulfilling his murderous mission.
